So we’ve made it to the end of the Dinomist monsters and we’ve made it to the boss. Dinomist Rex isn’t the strongest (being 2nd to Spinos) but has 2 very good effects and he is the definitely a Dino you want on your field.
So the 6 scale effect is no surprise at this point and while I wouldn’t recommend him for it, honestly. But if you have no other option then do what you have to. But you really want this guy on point.
So Rex has 2 battle based tribute effects. And while it is restricted to “one of two” and once per turn. So when Rex has attacked in the battle phase you can tribute to attack another monster and gain piercing for that attack only. There is one little caveat to this effect being that you have to attack another monster – it can’t be a direct attack, otherwise you would tribute to activate but the effect wouldn’t do anything and all you would have accomplished would be tributing a monster for nothing. If you opponent has two or more monsters and you have a Dinomist to spare, it’s a decent choice.
And now for door #2. In the event your opponent doesn’t have more monsters or if the monsters he has are too much for Rex, he has the option to tribute a Dinomist monster to spin a card on the field or 1 (randomly) from the hand into the deck. And I hope you read properly – just spin. No target. Just back in the deck. Oh and he gains a permanent 100 ATK. Yippy skippy. Did I mention that this is an amazing choice?!
Rex may not have the sheer killing potential of Spinos but what he lacks in the damage department he makes up for in field dominance. Dinomist Rex is one of the best if not the best Dinomist to date. His spin has the added effect of a permanent stat boost, so if you feed him he will grow.
