#Yugioh Card Review – Flame High King Executive Genghis

Awwww yeah. Flame King Genghis is one of the most important extra deck monsters in the D/D/D series. He’s a primary pivot for your slimes and the deck really doesn’t flow without him. But he always felt like a transition piece, as if when you ended your play and he’s still on the field you weren’t finished. So what we have here is a final evolution of Genghis – considerably stronger and packing a pretty decent upgrade as well.

If another “D/D” monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned to your field, while you control this face-up card (except during the Damage Step): You can target 1 “D/D” monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. You can only use this effect of “D/D/D Flame High King Executive Genghis” once per turn. Once per turn, during your turn, when a Spell/Trap Card or effect is activated: You can negate the activation (this is a Quick Effect)
Flame High King Executive Genghis is a Lv 8 FIRE fiend fusion monster that right off the jump boasts a considerably more threatening 2800 ATK and a serviceable 2400 DEF. His materials are a touch better quality needing a level 5 D/D (or higher).

He retains his ability to get D/D’s from the grave back on the board. So his playmaking is still very viable. But he is far less disposable than his predecessor. Aside from greatly improved stats, his Lv 8 also (techincally) makes him viable material for Kali Yuga.

The added effect for  Flame High King Executive Genghis is the ability to negate an effect activation once per turn.  The effect is limited to your turn only, which makes it more of a defensive measure while also still supplying a beefy 2800 punch.  Genghis would be ready to kill any nasty surprise your opponent plans on catching you off guard with.

Power, utility, protection. He’s a total package.  I like that he’s very clearly inspired visually by the original. And he’s not difficult to get to the field – you can swirl him with a high level D/D, necro him the same, contract fusion. Plus you could even use him in a combo and bring him back with little Genghis!

He doesn’t break the mold by any stretch, but he’s a clean upgrade without losing anything. Awesome.
