So a little less Power Rangers and a little more Thunderbirds, the Magnacarrier is the dropship that carries the Super Quantal Mech Beasts into and out of battle. It also initiates the Great Magnus sequence.
Discard 1 card, then target 1 “Super Quantum” monster you control; Special Summon from your Extra Deck, 1 “Super Quantal Mech Beast” Xyz Monster with the same Attribute as that monster you control by using it as the Xyz Material. (This Special Summon is treated as an Xyz Summon.) You can send this card from the Field Zone to the Graveyard, then target 3 “Super Quantal Mech Beast” Xyz Monsters with different names you control and/or in your Graveyard; Special Summon 1 “Super Quantal Mech King Great Magnus” from your Extra Deck, and if you do, attach the targeted monsters and their Materials to it as Xyz Materials.
So lets look at these one at a time. First up is the Mech Beast summon. Discard a card, then target a Super Quantum monster on your field – this can pitch Alphan Ball, or Green to force a second discard to draw, Red for a Call of the Haunted, or Blue for a reload. The discard may look like a -1 but with the options that you have it becomes a strategic advantage.
Once you’ve discarded, target a Layer and XYZ summon their corresponding Mech using the single material. This is really good! Resource management can be tricky and this allows you to trigger effects, set up your board, and progress to your win condition. Also, this effect isn’t once per turn, if your opponent takes the Maxx C challenge and doesn’t finish the job – you have a whole hand of discard fodder. Tossing Reds to resurrect Blue and Green and get them XYZ’d into Granpulse and Aeroboros before getting Magnaliger (if he’s not already out there). Or make that cheesy play and take the Alphan Ball Challenge for yourself!! Clear their board and face off against their nastiest monster.
The lack of restrictions on the XYZ summons gives the deck some real teeth. It should also be noted that because Magnacarrier stats ” treated as an XYZ summon” it makes the summon legitimate. This can allow you to even bring back Mech Beasts with Red Layer’s effect. Though to be fair: they’re scrap metal without a pilot (we’ll talk about that later on). With Magnacarrier on board you then XYZ those Layers into Mech Beasts before activating Magnacarrier’s other ability.
Send this card from the field to grave, target three different named Super Quantal Mech Beast monsters (field or grave) and XYZ summon one Super Quantal Mech King Great Magnus and attaching the targeted monsters (and any materials attached to them) to Great Magnus.
This is how you accomplish his bananas summoning conditions and equally crazy effect requirements. And because this deck isn’t a typical XYZ spam deck it makes Magnacarrier that much more valuable to the strategy. It’s how you make your win condition – the ability to quickly summon the Mech Beasts seems like its a bonus, but the fact is that they’re needed for Magnus.
You can re-use and re-use Magnacarrier to field all three Beasts in one go then overlay them into a shortstack for Magnus. As a plug for our last card; Alphan Ball’s off-the-wall “Triverr” style bounce can clear the deck, then you activate Magnacarrier (if need be) to set up the final showdown between Magnus and the worst your opponent has to offer.
Magnacarrier is a staple three, it furthers your strategy, opens up your extra deck, it makes plays, this is a good card.
